8 Kitchen Hacks You Can Find On TikTok

TikTok

“I learned more on TikTok than in school,” reads the caption accompanying several videos featuring cooking hacks and other baking tips on the popular app. And some kitchen tips are so simple but revolutionary, you would almost believe it.

GAME CHANGER

TikTok often turns out to be a great source of inspiration for the kitchen. Many food influencers can even click here to learn how to grow their following on the platform. Some recipes are so original that they go completely viral. Our examples are not about the now well-known Baked Feta Pasta or the Tortilla Wrap Hack. We’re also not going to talk about the Cookie Cereal or, better yet, the Mini Pancakes Cereal that flooded the web. In addition to these original recipe ideas, TikTok is also the place to be to find plenty of lifehacks, whether it’s fashion, decoration, or cooking. We give you 8 ultra-simple tips that will change the way you think about cooking.

1. FINELY CHOP YOUR HERBS IN THREE SECONDS

To remove all the leaves from a herb sprig, simply take a cheese grater and pass the stem through one of the holes. Success guaranteed! All you have to do is finely chop the loose leaves.

2. REMOVE STUBBORN STAINS ON YOUR TUPPERWARE

We all know it, those sauce stains on our old Tupperware jars never seem to disappear. A wash in the dishwasher is often not enough to get rid of it. Fortunately, this ingenious technique found on TikTok finally offers a solution to get rid of even the most stubborn stains. All you have to do is fill a Tupperware with hot water, soap, and a sheet of paper towel, and then shake it firmly for a few seconds.

3. KEEP YOUR WHITE WINE COOL WITHOUT LENGTHENING IT WITH WATER

Do you want to keep your glass of white wine (or rosé) cool in the summer, without having to sit with a bowl of water when all the ice cubes have melted? This genius tip suggests cooling fresh grapes in the fridge and then putting them in your wine glass as inventive ice cubes.

4. PEEL YOUR GARLIC IN NO TIME

Put the garlic cloves in the microwave for 30 seconds and they almost automatically lose their skin. Simple!

5. PREVENT YOUR HALF AVOCADO FROM TURNING BLACK

We’ve all had this problem before. If you only want to use part of your avocado, it is almost impossible to store the other part without it turning black in the refrigerator. The first trick is to keep the guacamole or piece of avocado in contact with the kernel of the fruit. Another tip is to simply sprinkle it with lemon juice.

6. CHECK IF YOUR OIL IS HOT WITHOUT BURNING YOU

Is your oil warm? That’s always the big question when you’re about to put your ingredients in the pan. To know if your oil is ready, simply place your wooden spoon against the bottom of the pan and see if or not bubbles rise around the spoon to the surface.

7. EASILY REMOVE CHICKEN TENDONS

Grab the tendon (that small white, usually hard-to-cut piece) and pass it between two teeth of the fork for easy removal.

8. FINALLY DRAIN PASTA THE RIGHT WAY

We have always drained our pasta in the same way: we pour the water from the pot into a colander in the sink and then put the pasta back in the pot. Basically, you just have to place the strainer on the jar (like a lid) and drain the water from the paste so that the paste drains out while staying in the jar.
